CMA-LogoThe Council for Museum Anthropology is an all-volunteer membership organization that serves anthropologists and museum professionals. The Council for Museum Anthropology is a section of the American Anthropological Association.

CMA’s mission is to foster the development of anthropology in the context of museums and related institutions.

PUBLICATIONS & MEETINGS: CMA engages with anthropological collections, communities, and issues through the Council’s journal, Museum Anthropology, through a regular column in Anthropology News, and through annual and occasional meetings, seminars, and special publications. The journal editors also maintain a Museum Anthropology blog that highlights breaking news in museum anthropology.

This year the CMA will host its first conference, Museum Anthropology Futures, which will be held May 25-27, 2017, hosted by Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
