The School of Social Science seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Anthropology to commence in January 2022. The Lecturer will be based in the Department of Anthropology and will have experience of teaching and applying for research funding commensurate with career stage. They should also have (or expect to have) publications suitable for inclusion in the Department of Anthropology’s Research Excellence Framework submissions. 

Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Anthropology or closely related subject. They should have experience of teaching in higher education and be able to make a contribution to a range of courses in our undergraduate programme in Anthropology and our postgraduate programmes in Anthropology and Museum Studies. A significant portion of the post-holder’s time will be spent teaching on our growing MLitt in Museum Studies, which attracts students with a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds from all over the world. 

Applicants should show an ability to engage with one or more of the established research themes of our Department: Religion, Politics and the State; Environment and Perception; Anthropology of the North; Museums and Histories of Science; Anthropology of Art and Craft
